Where do we start?!
#1
Lisbon is Portugal's capital with tons of history. It's historic area is easily walk-able if you don't mind hills or know the shortcuts to avoid steep slopes! Ask us for details or check out our latest blog! Else our notorious tram 28 will also be very helpful to get from A to B!
#2
Lisbon's neighbourhood are unique, none is the same be it Chiado, Barrio Alto, Cais do Sodre, Alfama or Mouraria and that's just our main historic neighbourhoods.
#3
Sintra, Queluz, Belem, Cascais, Caparica amongst other close by day trip destinations offer history, gardens or relaxation mixed with some excellent restaurants.
#4
These restaurants in and around Lisbon offering meat and seafood dishes are plenty abound. More recently vegan, vegetarian and healthy shops pop up to add to the mix.
#5
Do not forget our Pasteis de Natas, even better if you try the original in Belem. If you go to taste the real ones, take time and enjoy a full day of fun, history and sunshine in Belem. If you do like sailing, a lot of sailboats leave for sunset sails from Belem, too!
#6
Sails will pass around our historic sites as far as Alfama or even our new area. It is all in your hands, though you will not need to steer the sail (unless you would like to!), only enjoy! Ask us for more details ;-)
#7
300 days of sunshine, with high temperatures around 20 degrees Celsius in December or February are likely. You may even have to keep your long pants/trousers and long sleeve shirts in your suitcase. We are not joking!
#8
Museums have gained international acclaim. The Ocenarium has for long ranked number one Ocenarium in the world. Gulbankian and the museum of Art, Architecture and Technology make international news.
#9
Azulejos, tiles, can be found in many places, including the National Museum of Tiles as can be graffiti throughout town and in a couple of our apartments (LD Apartments~Alfama~Castelo and LD Apartments~Mouraria).
#10
People are extremely friendly, must be our sunshine and food!
#11
Most speak English, it typically is easy to get around due to this.
#12
Portuguese do know how to celebrate and because of that June is one big outdoor party! New Year is, too ;-)
